‘Activating the Archive’: gruntKitchen Media Lab
Tonight the grunt gallery launched its newly renovated and totally wired gruntKitchen Media Lab. They have transformed their old kitchen space into a new lab for development and exhibition of new media works, performance, and a range of educational programming. The space is flexible and modifiable and ready to support many future projects, exhibitions, and conversations…
The gruntKitchen writes that:
“This media lab will also be a key component of grunt’s Activiating the Archive project. Activating the Archive is a multi-year project that involves bringing the the archive of grunt’s 26 years of production into the digital realm through the development of an onlne, interactive, database driven website. The media lab will provide facilities for the initial digitization of records and capturing of video. It will also become a site for a curated program of contemporary artists to develop and present new media and performance based work in response to materials found in grunt’s archive”.
The Making Culture Lab is excited to support MA candidate D’Arcy O’Connor in his research work with the gruntKitchen Media Lab. Below, a few images from tonight’s launch and reception. Stay tuned…
