Project Proposal (Abstract and Bibliography) 10% (Due Week 7)
This assignment is a 350-500-word abstract and bibliography that outlines your individual research project for the course.
The abstract should propose both a written component and a production component. The production component does not have to be extensive; it could take the form of a short video, a web-based exploration of themes related to the course and the museum of Vancouver’s neon exhibition, a photographic essay, drawings, or something else. Please consult with me before hand if you have any questions about what you would like to do. If you do not feel prepared to produce media, you can propose a longer research paper (approx. 4000 words) instead. The final project/paper/MOV conference presentation should be grounded in one or more elements of the Museum of Vancouver’s ‘Neon Vancouver’ exhibition (see the detailed description of the final project).
The bibliography should include readings from the course and from your independent research, and should also include references to online projects (for example, virtual exhibits or other websites or media that we have discussed in the course, or that you have located in the course of your research) and other relevant media.
