Just a quick post: this video came to my mind when reading Adrienne Lafrance’s article on machine unlearning. By learning to ride a backwards bicycle, he unlearns how to ride a normal bicycle. The way he talks about the mind as an algorithm resonates with Mead’s quote: “There is no trap of saying the human body is a machine, but merely that the methods, especially the the mathematics used in these machine problems, may be available tools for thinking more precisely about human behavior.”

Excellent example! How hard it is for humans to ‘unlearn’––I wonder, are our opinions and world views as hard-wired as our physicality?
