I had the pleasure of participating in an exhibition last week in New York city (see Fig. 1). The piece was a collaboration between Kristin Carlson, Shannon Cuykendall, prOphecy sun, and technician Greg Corness.

In Presence in a Box: Crossing Liminal Spaces (see Fig. 5) we explore the experience of presence across scale through the creation of an interactive performance installation.

Two small box shapes are separated within the gallery space. One box is the location for a live performance with sound and movement (see Fig. 2-3) and the other box depicts looping videos of previous performances (shot from the performer’s perspective) (see Fig. 4). Audiences can also trace pathways in one space that are reimagined and projected into the other space. Pathways generated by audience members accumulate, leaving traces of movement and sound for others to explore.
